Girls on the Run Featured in National and Local News
Girls on the Run was featured TWICE this spring in prominent publications - one national and one regional!
Earlier this month, the U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy released a report from the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service reinforcing the important connection between physical activity and mental health. Dr. Murthy highlighted Girls on the Run as an example of a program for girls to “learn life skills through interactive lessons and running games.” Our program is the ONLY after-school program mentioned in the report and cites the results of our longitudinal study.
Here in New Jersey, Girls on the Run councils across the state were featured in FRONT PAGE articles in The Star-Ledger and Trenton Times! The pieces cover important aspects of GOTR, including our focus on access and inclusion, the need for our programming with girls, the impact of our trained volunteer coaches - and of course the joy of our 5K celebrations!
As we gear up for this weekend's 5K Celebrations in Newark and Princeton, these endorsements are a wonderful way to spread the word about Girls on the Run!
